Crowns

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped "cap" that is placed over a tooth - covering the tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and/or to improve its appearance. The reasons you might need a crown are:

* Your tooth lost considerable tooth structure due to accident, fracture, or large decay;

* Your tooth has a root canal treatment, and the tooth structure becomes weak;

* To improve appearance.

Materials used for crown can be:

- Full metal such as gold;

- Porcelain fused to metal;

- All-ceramic or all-porcelain.

All-ceramic or all-porcelain dental crowns provide the best natural color match than any other crown type and are more suitable for people with metal allergies. The material of All-ceramic crowns has improved dramatically over the years, which makes them good choices for both front teeth and back teeth.
