About dental implant
At
Dr. Liang’s Office, we surgically place implants and
restore them.
Dr. Liang is a fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, a regular attendant of American Academy of Implant Dentistry study club in San Francisco.
Dental
implants are an excellent way to replace one or more
missing teeth, or to support loose removable full (or partial) dentures.
Dental
implants are usually made of titanium.
At surgical phrase, dental implants are
surgical placed into the jaw bone.
After
3-6 months, the implants will fuse with the bone tissue
(osseointergration),
either crowns or bridges can be placed on the implants, and they can
achieve
the esthetics of traditional crowns or bridges.
For
patients with loose denture problems, implants can be
used to support either partial dentures or full dentures, as the
implant
supported denture (partial or full) can greatly enhance chewing
function,
esthetic appearance, and retention.

You still are able to remove your dentures
to clean, but the dentures can be clicked on the placed implants to be
stabilized. Many
times just two or more
implants can make your dentures become so steady that you can chew
anything you
like and never worry about the dentures coming loose while you are
speaking. We have
been using this
technique effectively to restore chewing ability and enhance esthetic
appearance for our patients.
Once
teeth missing, the bone and tissue on the missing teeth
area will resorb. All
traditional dental
prostheses such as fixed bridge, full or partial denture will not stop
the
atrophy. Only
dental implant can stop
the bone resorption. Therefore,
implants
have many advantages over traditional dental prosthesis in terms of
bone
maintenance, not needing to grind down the adjacent teeth, increasing
long term
prosthesis success, maintenance of facial esthetics, decreasing chance
of
caries of adjacent teeth of missing teeth areas, etc.
People
suffering from uncontrolled chronic disorders, such
as diabetes,
heart
disease; or patients who have had
radiation therapy to the
head/neck area, need to be evaluated on an individual basis. If you are
considering implants, please consult Dr. Liang to see if you are a
suitable
candidate.
